Ahena Organic Farm

Inspired by the Beauty of Living in Nature… But also having the practical ability to be discerning enough to to enjoy the moments of each day, we are practicing the Art of Mindful Living here at Ahena Organic Farm

This is our home but also place where we can aspire to learn from Mother Nature Herself here in the West of Ireland. We overlook green fields, cattle, sheep, a couple of neighbouring farms, a few trees and the top of Croagh Patrick on a clear day. This is a fully working organic farm, mainly beef suckler but also grain crop and kitchen gardens. We both work in the field of Natural Health and Wellbeing, Oliver as  Psychotherapist/ Counsellor and Anna as an Artist, Teacher and Acupuncturist.

More recently we have opened the farm to Social Farming services with Social Farming Ireland (SOFI). This exciting project is where we have participants come for a 10 week programme of activities which introduce each participant to our regular farming practices. For more information on this project please Email: ahenaorganicfarm@gmail.com   or phone 087 699 6806 (Oliver Dixon).

Daily Meditation, the practice of Mindfulness and the making of Art are simple but important activities which we include in our daily routines. This is a time is where we re-tune to our own natural rhythm, anchor in our centre and promote creativity in our daily lives. Seasonal walking in familiar surroundings, working with animals, gardening, rebuilding stone walls, chopping wood and carrying water are also mindful activities which are part of real life not to be undervalued.

The Farm is also where Artist Anna O. Dixon has her working studio. Private workshops resume in the summer months. During school season Anna teaches Art and Meditation/Mindfulness classes with Mayo Educational Training Board (MLSETB) and occasional classes from our purpose built Therapy Center.

Here at Ahena Organic Farm, we are realists, and know the pressures of modern living but also know some pretty good solutions to counteract stress and bring the return of joy into everyday living.
